Our story
Leighton Linslade Swimming Club was established in 2026, bringing together two long-established clubs, Linslade Crusaders and Leighton Buzzard Swimming Club, forming a brand-new club that carries forward more than a century of local swimming heritage and stands as the largest competitive swimming club in Bedfordshire.
Legacy club
Crusaders began when local families secured Sunday afternoon water time at Lewsey Pool in Luton to launch a Self Help Learn to Swim scheme. Under founding coach Colin Moore — with the Swaithes and Nairn families — the club grew steadily to around 170 members and became a proud Swim England SwimMark accredited club, crowned Chiltern League Champions in 2023.
Legacy club
With roots tracing back to 1921, LBSC was established at Spinney Pool, a former sand quarry that had filled with spring water. The club quickly became a focal point for the town, hosting national swimming and diving championships. LBSC went on to develop generations of swimmers, becoming a well-established community club.
By combining our coaching teams, pool time and volunteer talent, we can offer a wider squad pathway, more competition opportunities and a stronger community for every swimmer in the Leighton Linslade area.
